I never thought I would enjoy a sweet romance that revolves around college basketball, because I would rather watch paint dry, but this modern day twist on a well loved fairytale was both engaging, and enjoyable for oh-so-many reasons. I couldn't help being sympathetic to Katie, because working with Brad is a joy, but it's also heartbreaking because Katie has been infatuated with assistant coach Brad for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, Brad treats her like a little sister and Katie has learned to be content with his friendship and their mutual love for college basketball. Katie has led a drab existence all of her life because her parents were strict and secretive, keeping to themselves and iinsisting she not draw any attention to them for reasons they never shared and didn't even try to explain. She has few friends and she exists on the fringe of life, never fitting in because she was indoctrinated in the necessity of secrecy and isolation. She's hiding a terrifying secret that could change her life forever, and when a stranger shows up at the university with a slew of questions she can't answer, her life takes a turn she never could have imagined. As her life begins to spiral out of her control, the only person Katie can confide in is Brad. He has a very unconventional idea as to how to deal with the mysterious man who brings news that could shatter her existence. Thank goodness there's a happily-ever-after waiting in the wings that is both surprising and oh-so-satisfying. I highly recommend this coming of age story, and all of the other books Patricia McLinn has written, because I'm a huge fan and because she never fails to touch my heart. The Surprise Princess is the sixth romance in The Wedding Series written by author Patricia McLinn. Once again a great story and characters.
I loved this book and couldn't put it down.
Loved it and couldn't predict the ending, which I like the surprise. Good novel. Noone will regret reading this romance book.
I so throughly enjoyed this tale of a stolen princess and her prince in basketball shorts, lol.

Enjoyable story of basketball and a princess, who thought she was less than ordinary, and a King who thought he should control his country, family and everything touched by his influence. This is also a story of learning to be your own person, and learning to accept your right to what you want and how to go about getting it.
I have enjoyed each and every one of the books in this series, but I loved the characters for this book the most. No two strong, independent and tender hearts ever deserved to love more than these two.
Katie was a kidnapped baby. She was taught from early childhood to go unnoticed, hide herself from prying eyes and to think herself unworthy of attention, and love.
Brad is her champion. She didn’t mean to keep him at a distance, but she did and only the discovery that she could be a royal could help them to break down her walls of solitude and show the depth of their love.
It was beautiful, at times funny and just plain charming. I hope you agree.

I purchased The Surprise Princess Wedding book 6 by Patricia McLinn and this review was given freely.
Assistant to the Ashton University basketball coach in Wisconsin,USA, Katie uncovers her mother's well hidden secret. In this is a full length novel April and Hunter finally marry, Katie and Brad learn to accept and acknowledging the many facets of love, Katie becomes comfortable showing the strong and empowered woman/Princess/diplomat she is, and Katie reconciles with her Grandfather. Kidnapping,mental abuse, subterfuge and domineerance as loving guidance, and a love story that spans two nations are just a few of the reasons to read this sixth book of the series.
